Before you start
Before submitting your porting request, make sure:
Your Grasshopper account is still active.
Your Grasshopper account is in good standing.
The phone number you want to transfer is active.
You have access to your Grasshopper account information.
You have a recent Grasshopper bill or statement.
You generate a valid transfer PIN before submitting your request.
You do not cancel your Grasshopper service before the port is completed.
Cancelling your Grasshopper account too early can prevent or delay the number transfer.
Information you’ll need from Grasshopper
Prepare the following information before starting your port request:
Primary Account PIN
You’ll need a 4-digit Primary Account PIN.
To generate it:
Open the Grasshopper app
Go to Menu → Settings → Account information
Select Account info → Primary PIN
Enter a new 4-digit PIN
Your transfer PIN may expire, so generate it close to when you plan to submit the porting request.
Account number
Your Grasshopper account number is typically 10 digits and is usually your main phone number.
You can find it under:
Menu → Settings → Account info → Customer ID
Billing address
Provide the billing address associated with your Grasshopper account.
The information should match Grasshopper’s records exactly.
Proof of ownership
You may be asked to provide a recent Grasshopper invoice or billing statement.
You can provide:
A downloaded PDF
A screenshot
A copy of your recent bill
How to port your Grasshopper number to Consio
1. Make sure your account is active
Your Grasshopper account must remain active and in good standing throughout the porting process.
Resolve any outstanding balance before starting the transfer.
2. Generate your transfer PIN
Create a new 4-digit Primary Account PIN from your Grasshopper account settings.
Generate it shortly before submitting your request because the PIN may expire.
3. Gather your account information
Prepare your:
Phone number
Account number
Transfer PIN
Billing address
Recent billing statement
4. Verify your information
Make sure all information matches Grasshopper’s records exactly.
Even small differences in your address or account details can delay the port.
5. Submit your porting request to Consio
Start the number porting process with Consio and provide the requested Grasshopper account information and documentation.
We’ll review your request and let you know if anything else is required.
6. Keep using Grasshopper while the port is processed
Your existing number should remain active with Grasshopper until the transfer is completed.
Do not cancel your Grasshopper service while the request is being processed.
7. Wait for confirmation from Consio
We’ll confirm once the transfer has been completed and your number is active with Consio.
How long does it take?
Grasshopper number ports typically take around 1–2 weeks when all information is correct.
The exact timeline can vary depending on the number type, carrier requirements, and accuracy of the information provided.
What if my Grasshopper account is inactive?
Your Grasshopper account must be active before the number can be ported.
If your account is inactive, contact Grasshopper support to reactivate it before submitting your port request.
Can I port multiple Grasshopper numbers?
Yes. You can port multiple Grasshopper numbers, but each number may require its own porting request and complete documentation.
What if my transfer PIN expires?
Generate a new 4-digit Primary Account PIN from your Grasshopper account settings and use the new PIN for your porting request.
Will my Grasshopper service continue working during the transfer?
Yes. Your Grasshopper service should remain active while the port is being processed.
Once the transfer is completed, the number will become active with Consio.
Should I cancel Grasshopper before porting?
No. Keep your Grasshopper account and phone numbers active until Consio confirms that the port has been completed successfully.
Cancelling your service before the transfer is finished could delay or prevent the port.
